Marriages, Puslinch Township, Wellington
County, Ontario
Volume 2
In 2004, with the
assistance of Canada’s
famous Aberfoyle Mill Restaurant, Marjorie Clark published a book of
newspaper reports of marriages of Puslinch
Township people. That book included marriages up to the year
1900.
Now, volume 2
is available. This new collection advances as far as the year 1939,
with quite a few accounts of ceremonies that took place outside of
Puslinch.
Here
are samples of the reports:

QUIRK –
FOLEY
A pretty wedding was celebrated on
Monday morning at the Church
of Our Lady, when Julia
A. Foley, only daughter of Mr. Thomas Foley of Puslinch, became the bride of
Mr. William P. Quirk, the well-known builder.
At 7:30, the nuptial mass was said by Rev. Father O’Loane,
S.J., a large number of the friends of the bride and the groom being
present. Mr. Thomas Foley, eldest
brother of the bride, escorted her to the altar and she was attended by Miss
Mary Quirk, sister of the groom. The
groomsman was Mr. Fred Foley of Montreal,
the bride’s brother. The bride was
gowned in a suit of stone blue cloth, with white satin trimmings, a black
hat, with dashes of white and she carried a bouquet of carnations. The bridesmaid wore pale green, trimmed
with white satin. She also wore a
black hat and carried pink carnations.
A bountiful wedding breakfast was subsequently partaken of at the residence
of the bride’s father in Puslinch, where a reception was held from ten to two
o’clock. The bride’s friends showed
their esteem for her by many beautiful and valuable gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Quirk are spending their
honeymoon in southern points. - November 20, 1902
